Message from Doctor Andrew Ndamira Medical Director, HICH Miss Tourism Uganda, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Uganda Tourism Board are organizing a charity run in Mbarara on Saturday June 27th, 2015. All proceeds from the run are to be donated back to the community; as soon as the organizers learnt that Holy Innocents Children’s Hospital will soon construct a surgical theater, they offered to give all proceeds to HICH. Everybody who can make it to Mbarara on that day is encouraged to participate in this run physically; the longest category will be 10 km.
I apologize that this notice may have come too short for our friends in USA and NI to participate but this partnership was announced to us only last week. We are very grateful to the organizer of Miss Tourism Uganda, Ms Stella Bamu Rugunda for this tremendous gesture; she is born in Mbarara but lives and works in Entebbe.
From opening in July 2009 to the end of March 2015 over 121795 children have attended HICH either as outpatients or inpatients. This is Tusiime Nelson our Receptionist/Health Records who provides a friendly face for those arriving for treatment.
The curtains separating the special care area for ill babies has been replaced with a permanent wall and doors and the ward is now back in use.
Our Director of Nursing Leticia Arinative using the glo machine to demonstrate the correct hand washing technique.
Your donations big and small make such a difference.
Another busy day for the Northern Ireland team. Roderick has finished servicing the ambulance and the truck and has moved on to the washing machines. Eleanor Hayes and Maura Devlin have been decanting ward 2 in preparation for refurbishment work scheduled to start on Saturday. Maire Flannagan our nurse tutor is continuing with teaching sessions.
The hospital driver Denis Ariho and Roderick Redmond a mechanic from Ballyclare Northern Ireland. Roderick has brought out replacement parts for the ambulance which he plans to service.
Lovely card received from the staff at HICH, thank you.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
How resourceful are the clinical team at HICH? Heating blood pre transfusion.
